in Halifax Nova Scotia it was released today that the spca will no longer be able to respond or investigate to animal cruelty reports or call in’s due to a lack of funding from the community and goverment. in recent years many of the spca’s funding has been cut, losing many of there vital programs to ensure animal health and saftey.

one of the programs being a affordable nuetering and spayed program for people on fixed incomes.

it is becoming evident that the goverment will continue to cut funding to the spca until they are forced to close

this is unacceptable as the spca is one of the most important establishments set up for animal welfare.  and Halifax alone has 100,000 feral cats living within its regional limits. halifax only has a population of about 400,000 people, thats a lot of homeless cats. halifax also has an extremly high rate of animal cruelty and not enough support to do anything about it.

So this is a plea to all the tumblr pet fanatics and i know there are alot of you, to  email the Minister of Agriculture and ask them to reconsider the SPCA’s request for $100,000.00.

you don’t need to reside in nova scotia to know how crucial establiments like the spca are and how badly these animals who are being abused need a voice.
